About Us

Axys Precision started as Hiller Precision Machining by Gunter Hiller in his garage in1976. Gunter quickly outgrew his garage and moved the business from his home garage settling into a permanent building in Hanover, M. Known as the “Chicken Coup” for its low ceilings and odd lighting, he grew his business doing work for many local companies, many of whom are still customers today, such as; Honeywell, Hiawatha Rubber, TESCOM, Arctic Fox, and K-Tek.

Gunter sold Hiller Precision to Bruce and Cindy Johnson in July 2006. After Gunter sold the business, he continued to work part-time at Hiller Precision until Bruce and Cindy moved to Zimmerman, MN in December 2013. Sadly, Gunter passed away the summer of 2014. Bruce and Cindy focused on upgrading the machinery to CNC machines with Swiss machining capabilities to be competitive in the world market. Hiller Precision grew in a niche market of short run, quick set up, production type work. Bruce and Cindy focused on high quality, on-time deliveries, and the highest standards in customer service.

Hiller Precision was purchased in November 2021 by Cal Nauman and Axys Precision. Cal brings a dedication to quality, customer service, and the ambition to grow. Axys Precision has established itself as a global production precision machining business. We specialize in Swiss lathe, CNC lathe, and multi-axis milling for prototype to production. Axys Precision supports “Just In Time” manufacturing at all levels for customers across North America and the globe, providing the highest quality machined products and services that continually exceed our customers’ expectations.

In June of 2024, Axys Precision moved to a new facility in Maple Grove, MN. At nearly twice the size, fully climate controlled, and housing a standalone inspection department, the new facility has allowed Axys Precision to better serve its existing and new customers alike. Axys Precision is looking to the future of American Manufacturing and staying competitive on the global stage. Investment in new technology, new process, and new equipment is always on the forefront and a number one priority. In April 2024 as a dedication to process development, Axys Precision was excited to announce it became compliant in both AS9100 and ISO13485.
